Successful applicants announced

David Wilson Homes North West is delighted to announce the latest group of successful applicants to its Our Space, Your Place community initiative.

The four lucky applications, which will be supported throughout this quarter, came from: Croxteth Gems Community Association, Halewood Youth in Community Centre, St Peter’s Church Hall and the Lancashire Constabulary.

• Croxteth Gem’s Community Association is a local charity that supports children in developing their lives in ways that may otherwise have been difficult. They provide a home time collection service to five local schools, offering play activities for children from three to 16 years of age.

• Meanwhile, Halewood Youth in Community Centre, set in Knowsley, offers a wide variety of service provision to the local community, including a pre-school breakfast club, parent and toddler sessions, out of school club, holiday playscheme provision and senior youth work sessions.

• St Peter’s Church Hall in Sandbach is a local community hall, funded and operated by the local church. It provides a venue for many local children’s groups, voluntary organisations and members of the community.

• Finally, a police constable from Lancashire Constabulary has set up a youth football team in Blackburn for children aged 10 – 12 years. His team requires funding for various purposes including equipment, pitch hire, league registration and insurance.

The Our Space, Your Place scheme, launched at the end of 2010, offers a dedicated fund from which groups in the region can apply for a contribution, of either time or finances, to support a community project.

Graham Swann, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, explains: “In today’s society it is more important than ever that we work together to help improve the communities in which we live, which is why we created Our Space, Your Place. The scheme not only offers to support local groups via funding, but organisations can also apply for resource for their project in the form of volunteers from our team.

“We continue to receive a fantastic response from people in the region and are delighted to name this group of successful applicants. We encourage any organisations that are looking for support to get in touch now and find out how we can help them.”

Our Space, Your Place offers contributions from £100 to £1000, the only condition is that the funding is used for something that will genuinely enhance or improve a service, facilities or the environment within their local area.

The next application submission deadline is 1 May 2012.
