Going green with Fleetwood charity

We recently partnered with Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd, an award-winning Fleetwood based charity which works to minimise and reuse furniture going to landfill sites.

Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd reuses over 20 tonnes of waste per month and is predominately staffed by volunteers. The company also aims to encourage enterprise and community participation, whilst also supporting its volunteers in achieving their NVQs in Warehousing, Business Administration and Customer Services.

Our donation will allow the organisation to purchase a new computer to help train new and existing volunteers in their qualifications. The computer will also enable Refurb’s operation to work more effectively and efficiently, and consequently recycle more waste.

Guy Hay of Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd comments: “Although sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do here at Refurb, we are also committed to supporting and rewarding our volunteers by providing them with valuable work experience and training opportunities. A new computer will go a long way to enable them to enjoy the training they deserve and we would like to thank David Wilson Homes North West for their generous donation.”

Graham Swann, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, concludes: “Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd is a fantastic organisation so we are delighted to offer our support. Sustainability and training both sit at the heart of everything we do here at David Wilson Homes North West, so working with Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd seemed a natural fit. The partnership was the perfect way to build on the apprentice schemes and environmental initiatives we already have in place and we look forward to working with Refurb (Wyre & Fylde) Ltd again in the future.”
