We ‘dig deep’ for the MacIntyre learning centre

We recently lent our services to the MacIntyre Learning Centre in Warrington to help it improve its water system.

The MacIntyre Learning Centre is a leading charity, providing learning, support and care for adults with learning disabilities in the region. The centre provides opportunities for people to learn a variety of skills.

Over the past few years, the water system at the centre had repeatedly frozen during the winter months due to its above ground location, which meant that it was left without water and as a result, unwelcoming for its visitors.

As part of the Our Space, Your Place initiative, several members of our team recently volunteered to get their hands dirty and dig a ditch, so that the centre could move the system below the ground to prevent it freezing.

John Wilkins, on behalf of the MacIntyre Learning Centre, explains: “The David Wilson Homes volunteers did an absolutely brilliant job, under very difficult conditions. I would like to say a big thank you to them on behalf of the centre, as now our site can be open all year round – even in the cold weather – without fear of our pipes freezing!”

John Dodd, Service Coordinator at David Wilson North West Homes comments “Here at David Wilson Homes North West we are always keen to support charities within the communities in which we build, and the MacIntrye Learning Centre fitted the bill perfectly. We are delighted that we could help them with their water system to ensure that they are set up for the cold winter months ahead.

“I would also like to thank Carl Walsh at Jenshaw Ltd, and our volunteers, Chris Williamson, Frasier Linaker, Neil Shore, Paul Kitchingman, Neil Bradley and David Ince for all of their hard work.”
