Employees at David Wilson Homes North West cycled, kayaked, swam and trekked to charity success via a grueling ‘try-athlon’ of sporting events, which raised almost £30,000 for Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

The 30 intrepid employees took part in four tough fitness challenges during May and July, embarking on a serious training regime in the process. Between them, the team has raised almost £30,000 to date, far exceeding the £16,000 which they raised during last year’s Coast to Coast one day bike ride.

Four of the region’s biggest sporting events made up the Try-athlon, these comprised the Manchester 10km run, the Manchester one mile open water swim at Salford Quays, the 100 mile Liverpool sportive bike ride and the Consiton Challenge, a one day extreme kayak, trek and cycle challenge.

With the emphasis on ‘try’ rather than athletic ability, the David Wilson Homes team were able to choose how many events to complete.

Event organiser, Jason Corner, development director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “The team loves a challenge, and this was a massive commitment from all of us for a large part of the year. Knowing that we were raising money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity spurred us on as we undertook some of the North West’s most grueling runs and races.

“We wanted to raise as much money as possible for the Liverpool based charity, which does amazing work throughout the North West and are extremely grateful for the generous donations we have received. It’s absolutely thrilling to have beaten last year’s fundraising total.”

David Wilson Homes North West offers a wide range of homes at developments across the region, from modern one bedroom apartments through to luxury five bedroom family homes.

Donations to the team completing the ‘try-athlon’ can still be made at: www.justgiving.com/company/DavidWilsonNW/.
